Global UN Goals
Global goals for sustainable development
In September 2015, the world's heads of state and government adopted a new development agenda and global goals for sustainable development. Agenda 2030 consists of 17 global goals for sustainable development that aim to eradicate poverty, stop climate change and create peaceful and secure societies.
Agenda 2030 is the most ambitious plan for creating sustainable development that the world has ever adopted. The world's leaders have promised to achieve the global goals by the year 2030. All countries have thus taken on the responsibility of creating a more just, sustainable and better world.
Nobody can do everything but everyone can do something. Below you see which goals AFC Eskilstuna has chosen to focus on and how we implement it in our daily work. GOAL 3. GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
In Sweden, we have a high average life expectancy, good self-assessed health and good access to healthcare compared to many other countries. At the same time, there are health differences between different groups in society.
AFC Eskilstuna contributes to getting children and young people moving by offering free spontaneous football and futsal in various areas around Eskilstuna, all year round. We are out in schools with our A-team players and lecture on how to achieve your dreams by focusing on the right things, setting goals and working purposefully towards them. We also have ongoing training and exercises to counteract mental illness and increase overall mental health.
What can you do?
Move! Find a sport or other form of movement that you find fun. Regular exercise contributes to better health.
"How are you"? More and more people in society suffer from mental illness. Show you care by asking how someone is doing.GOAL 5. EQUALITY
In international comparisons, Sweden has a high employment rate for women between the ages of 20 and 64. But men in Sweden still own more and earn more than women, while women have the main responsibility for the unpaid domestic and care work.
AFC Eskilstuna works a lot with gender equality issues in our basic value education, which is mandatory for players, leaders and staff. When we visit schools and different areas around Eskilstuna, we exclude no one, of course both girls and boys are welcome. We have recently started a women's futsal team and are actively looking for female leaders. We are the only "men's club" in Swedish elite soccer that has a female academy director and we also have female coaches in charge of teams in our academy.
What can you do?
Become a monthly donor to the UN's project Flicka and you contribute to strengthening women's rights.
Tell them off! If you experience gender discrimination for yourself or others, speak up!
GOAL 11. SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND SOCIETIES
85 percent of Sweden's population lives in urban areas. We have long had problems with housing shortages in many places. Sweden has for a long time had an extensive regulatory framework around community planning and construction.
Goal 11 is about making cities and communities safe, inclusive and sustainable. Through our activities with spontaneous football in Eskilstuna's various areas, we continuously work to include everyone. We exclude no one during our visits. The fact that we are out in the areas with players and leaders also means that we contribute to safer and, in the long run, more sustainable societies.
What can you do?
Leave the car! Use alternative means of transport such as cycling, walking, carpooling or public transport. By reducing emissions from cars, air quality in cities and communities increases.
Work from home whenever possible to reduce the load on the transport system.
Think about community planning! Take part in consultations on new detailed plans for the transport systems.
GOAL 16. PEACEFUL AND INCLUSIVE SOCIETIES
Sweden is a country that has had peace for a long time, with strong faith in the legal system, low corruption, high voter turnout and well-functioning social institutions. Despite that, Swedish governments have received international criticism for their handling of national minority groups. Likewise, Sweden's extensive arms exports mean a conflict of goals in the global quest for peaceful societies.
Goal 16 aims to promote peaceful, just and inclusive societies. All people have the right to freedom and the opportunity to influence their own lives regardless of ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation. Again, this is part of our core values training. AFC Eskilstuna works to reduce all forms of violence. We are active in preventing all abuse, exploitation and violence against children. Much of our player education is directed at corruption, bribery and match-fixing.
What can you do?
Use your right to vote! Vote in the EU, Riksdag region and municipal elections if you have the right to vote. Join the debate! Influence politics in the way you think is fair and inclusive.
Tell them off! Be clear that you do not accept bullying and harassment.
Please! See the positive in others and show empathy.
